COUNSEL in the Zara case, Datuk Ram Singh, said it is saddening to hear another incident had occurred at the same school on her death anniversary and even before the inquest into her death had concluded.
He also questioned why the State Education Department (JPN) only issued a statement two days after the latest incident was reported in the Daily Express.

“I hope the school will take more proactive steps or issue circulars. Why only after two days? If you are concerned, issue a statement as soon as possible,” he said.
He said the larger question is why the latest second incident happened.
“Why should it happen? We have not even completed this inquest and another incident happened. It also involved a female student.” Ram hoped the ongoing inquest would not only determine the manner of Zara’s death but also enable the Coroner to provide guidelines on preventing such incidents.
“As much as we are looking towards the manner of death, I hope the Coroner may extend further as to probably some guidelines as to why or how students are ‘jumping’. It looks more like a norm to students. There are so many cases now of kids ‘jumping off’ buildings. This incident allegedly was on the first floor and at the same school,” he said.
Another counsel, Shahlan Jufri, called for a thorough investigation into the latest case.
“We only found out about it because everyone was busy with the inquest. I do not wish to comment further. I only hope the investigation will be carried out in accordance with the usual procedures,” he said.
