Sabah professional boxing development to get a boost
Nizam said combining sports science with rehabilitation technology helps athletes recover from injuries while maintaining peak performance.
Kota Kinabalu: The Kinabalu Professional Boxing Club (KTPK) and European Wellness Sports Science Regenerative Centre (EW-SSRC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to boost professional boxing development in Sabah through athlete development and regenerative medicine.

State Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, in a speech read by representative Francis Chung, said the collaboration would raise the standard of athlete care in Sabah.

The announcement was made at a press conference for the BAM Championship at the European Wellness Premier Centre, Thursday.

He said Sabah’s selection for the partnership reflects confidence in the State’s potential as a high-performance sports hub.

KTPK Secretary Zairul said the collaboration gives Sabah athletes access to injury rehabilitation technology and sports medicine expertise.

He thanked the Ministry, Sabah Sports Board, European Wellness and the Malaysian Professional Boxing Federation for supporting the championship. 

He said boxers, coaches and team managers have been preparing for two to three months, with participants from Sandakan, Tongod, Tambunan, Penampang and Kota Kinabalu.

The BAM Championship was held on Friday at Dewan Sri Putatan, Kota Kinabalu.
