Ever-green and honest-type Sukoli Beauty should be noticed as he rarely disappoints. Do not disregard Smart Lad who has wily jockey Vigi on board and has ability to gate-crash. Surprise package could be Kinabalu Light who did well in his maiden outing finishing third in April.
Race 5 (Class 4) over 1,200m turf track is highlight with a crowded field of 15 runners crossing swords. Silent Arrow is a class act and tipped to emerge from the heap. Lucky Express owned by the Lu brothers from Sandakan can provide a stern test.
Speedy Panglima Berantai at barrier five is expected to go for early lead to avoid heavy traffic. He has to outlast the rest though.
First September on back of consistently good performances to be included in the selections. Likewise for the exciting and dependable-type Sariche. Promoted Brilliant Crystal may find the field tough to handle but has guts to put on a good show.
Sunday also showcases Royal Sabah Turf Club’s tenacious Sabah Win competing in Selangor Turf Club Race 1 (Class 5) over 1,020m. Sabah Win disappointed local race-goers with a rather tepid run last outing two weeks back. A quick winning rebound is unlikely.
Sirius and Pacific Empire are to fight for victory in a small field of 8 starters. Ari and Aragon Pegasus can contend with Sabah Win for minor placings.
Race 9 (Open) over 1,600m with a grand purse of RM200,000 is the showcase race. A super congested field of 16 three-year-olds stand ready to out-last one another for a lion’s share of the prize money and bragging rights.
Mega Skye has a couple of dominant wins from 7 outings and is familiar with track and conditions. Stablemate Mega First likewise is in progressive trajectory and can push hard for the title.
Silent Move and Banker’s Boss are serious contenders and will be in the mix.
