Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Vice President Sim Fui urged the Sabah Water Department to provide regular updates on repair works following water supply disruptions in Segama and surrounding areas.

Sim, who is also LDP Api-Api Division Chairman, thanked the Sabah Water Department, the appointed contractor and front-line personnel for working around the clock to identify the cause of the burst pipe and restore water supply.

He said he had visited the affected areas and spoken with residents and business operators over the past few days, adding that communication with the public during such incidents could be improved.

“I propose that the Department provide regular and timely updates on the progress of repair works,” he said.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
Sim said the updates could include the confirmed location and cause of the pipe burst where appropriate, the current repair status, the estimated timeline for water supply restoration, and any changes or delays affecting completion.

He also encouraged the Department to announce the schedule and locations of water tanker distributions in advance to allow affected residents and business operators to plan accordingly and prepare containers for water collection.

“Timely and transparent communication not only helps reduce uncertainty and anxiety among the public, but also strengthens confidence in the efforts undertaken by the authorities,” he said.

Sim said regular updates would help the community better understand and manage unexpected challenges during repair works.

He added that LDP, as a component party of the State Government, remained committed to working with relevant agencies to improve public service delivery through constructive feedback and close cooperation.

Sim said the party would continue to monitor the situation, assist affected communities and support efforts to restore normal water supply as soon as possible.
