Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport (Mindet) will develop a 2026-2030 roadmap to strengthen Sabah's downstream oil and gas industry.
Deputy Chief Minister III and Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick
(pic) said the roadmap was among the key resolutions adopted at the Sabah Oil and Gas Services and Equipment (SOGSE) Conference held last month and would be tabled to the State Cabinet before being presented at the next State Legislative Assembly sitting.

Speaking during question time on Tuesday, Ewon said the roadmap aims to expand Sabah's downstream oil and gas industry and provide a clearer direction for the sector's development.
Earlier, Assistant Minister Datuk Jonnybone Kurum said a proposed industrial park in Kimanis would not proceed after preliminary assessments found the project would involve the acquisition of land from more than 1,500 title holders, resulting in significant costs to the State Government.
He said MINDET is now studying Beaufort as a possible alternative location due to its strategic potential and lower land acquisition requirements, with discussions continuing with relevant agencies.
