Kota Kinabalu: A 29-year-old delivery rider was charged in the Session Court here with sexually assaulting his 10-year-old daughter at a house in Menggatal, last year.
The man pleaded not guilty before Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal after the charge was read to him.
The charge stated that the man committing the offence by touching the girl’s private part with sexual intent in September 2025.
He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
Due to the relationship between the man and the alleged victim, there is additional punishment under Section 16(1) of the same Act, provides for a jail term of up to five years and not fewer than two strokes of the cane, upon conviction.
The court fixed August 20 for mention of the case and allowed bail of RM7,000 with RM4,000 deposit and two local sureties.

The man was also ordered to report to a police station once a month and warned to not tamper with the prosecution’s witnesses.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Fazriel Fardiansyah Abdul Kadir appeared for the prosecution while the offender was not represented.
