Kota Kinabalu: A 35-year-old bouncer of a nightclub was charged with raping a student believed to be a customer of the club.
Shah Rizal Sazry pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal, to the charge against him.
Shah Rizal is accused of raping the 21-year-old woman at the first floor of the nightclub parking lot in Penampang on July 11 this year.
The offence under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.
The court set Aug 20 for mention and released on bail of RM10,000 with RM5,000 deposited in two local sureties.
Shah Rizal was ordered to report to the nearest police station once a month and surrender his passport, if any, to the court until the disposal of his case.

Deputy Public Prosecuter Fazriel Fardiansyah Abdul Kadir appeared for the prosecution while Shah Rizal was not represented.
