SANDAKAN: Newly appointed Commander of Naval Region Two (Pangwila 2), Laksamana Muda Jamaludin Sairi, said his priority is to further strengthen the management of Naval Region Two Headquarters (Mawilla 2) in all aspects.

He said the main focus would be on enhancing Mawilla 2’s operational capabilities.

This includes improving the deployment and management of naval assets in Sabah, particularly those within Mawilla 2’s area of operations, as well as strengthening logistics and other operational activities.

“We will continue to ensure the welfare of Mawilla 2 personnel remains well looked after, as the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has always placed importance on their well-being.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
“As we can see today, housing and other facilities, including the hall here, have been developed well,” added Jamaludin, who previously served as Deputy Commander of Naval Region Two.

He also expressed confidence that the Armed Forces Family Welfare Organisation (Bakat) Navy would continue to actively carry out its programmes.

Jamaludin also thanked his predecessor, Laksamana Muda Ivan Mario Andrew, for his efforts in strengthening Mawilla 2.

The ceremony saw Jamaludin officially take over command from Ivan, who led Mawilla 2 for three years and 17 weeks and will retire on Aug 7.

Before his appointment, Jamaludin served as Commander of Lumut Naval Base at the Lumut Naval Base Headquarters.

Ivan had also previously served as Deputy Commander of Naval Region Two.

Throughout his career, Ivan held several key positions in the Royal Malaysian Navy, including Commanding Officer of KD Sri Sarawak, KD Perlis, KD Panah, KD Laksamana Tan Pusmah and KD Mahawangsa.

Meanwhile, Ivan expressed confidence that Mawilla 2 would continue to progress under Jamaludin’s leadership.

He said Jamaludin would continue to lead efforts to safeguard Sabah’s waters, particularly within Mawilla 2’s operational area.

“I believe that with his experience and capability, together with the officers at this headquarters, that objective can be achieved effectively,” he said.

Ivan also assured the public and visitors that Sabah’s waters remain well protected by the Royal Malaysian Navy and its vessels, which continue to maintain security in the State’s maritime areas.

He also thanked all Mawilla 2 personnel for their cooperation and dedication throughout his tenure as commander.
