KENINGAU: Keningau Vocational College (KV Keningau) continued its dominance by emerging Overall Champion for the fourth consecutive year at the 2026 Sabah and Federal Territory of Labuan Zone Vocational College (KV) Skills Competition, held in Tawau from July 7 to 9.
The college amassed an impressive haul of eight gold medals, three silver medals, three bronze medals, and the prestigious Golden Hands Award.
The standout achievement came in the Business Management category, where Nur Syaidattul Akma was crowned champion and received the Golden Hands Award, a special honour presented to the contestant who demonstrated exceptional technical skills and outstanding overall performance throughout the competition.
KV Keningau also claimed championship titles in several other categories. Nurul Syuhadah Mohd Wafi won the Beauty Therapy category, Nurul Fitriyani Izwani Abdul Mutalip emerged champion in Bakery and Pastry, while Robinsons Gilbert took top honours in Cooking.
Raeny Cawagdan secured victory in Automotive Technology, Joshua Alexod won the Wall and Floor Tiling category, Wester Westin emerged champion in Painting and Decorating, and Alencia Rachelistha Harry claimed first place in Early Childhood Education.
The college also recorded three runner-up finishes. Deona Deney (Beauty Therapy), Aleysha Irdina Nazim (Early Childhood Education), and Daphnie Limly Abdullah (Bricklaying) each earned silver medals.
Bronze medals were won by Aidelbert Lim Hiew Yang (Cooking), Mohamad Firdaus M. Haris (Electrical Installation), and Jennifer Joseph (Business Management).
A total of nine vocational colleges from Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan competed across various skills categories, with winners in each category qualifying to represent the zone at the national-level competition.
KV Keningau director Lumang anak Lang described the achievement as a testament to the dedication, discipline and perseverance demonstrated by both students and lecturers throughout their preparation.
He said vocational excellence could only be achieved through intensive training and continuous commitment to mastering technical skills.
Lumang added that vocational college education places strong emphasis on producing graduates who are highly skilled, professionally competent and well-prepared to meet industry demands.
