Pantai Manis rep seeks bigger development allocation
Kota Kinabalu: Pantai Manis Assemblyman Datuk Pengiran Saifuddin Pengiran Tahir Petra (pic) called for greater development investment in his constituency, saying the RM1.612 billion Supplementary Supply Bill 2026 should be used to address infrastructure and public welfare needs.

Debating the Bill on Monday, he urged the Government to prioritise road upgrades, drainage improvements, flood mitigation, public infrastructure and tourism projects to spur growth in Pantai Manis.

Pengiran Saifuddin said larger allocations were needed to repair village roads, improve drainage in flood-prone areas such as Benoni and Takis, and address riverbank erosion along Sungai Padang.

He also proposed four covered halls at strategic tamu sites to improve facilities for traders, fishermen and entrepreneurs, replacing the existing tent system.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
He further proposed developing the Papar Town Riverfront and upgrading the lighting at the historic Papar Yellow Bridge to strengthen community-based tourism and create new economic opportunities.
