Kota Kinabalu: An allegation of sexual harassment involving a government hospital director in Sabah that took place last October is under police investigation following a report lodged in January.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said investigations started even before the allegation went viral in the social media on Wednesday.
“The case only gained attention on social media on Wednesday (July 22), but the police already began the investigation under Section 509 of the Penal Code since January this year,” he said.
“Any further developments will be announced once the investigation is completed,” he said.
The Sabah Health Department (JKNS) said it has taken note of the allegation.
“JKNS takes the allegations seriously and will not compromise on any form of misconduct, particularly acts of sexual assault, harassment and workplace bullying.

“As these behaviours are contrary to the values of integrity and ethics upheld in the public service and can adversely affect the physical and mental well-being of healthcare personnel,” it said in a statement.
