Kota Kinabalu: Two foreign women, an Indonesian and a Thai, were fined a total of RM5,700 by the Magistrates’ Courts here for soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.
Rustiani Jakari, 33, an Indonesian national, was fined RM3,000, or seven months’ jail in default, after pleading guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to committing the offence at a massage outlet in Harbour City at 9.35pm on July 11.
Meanwhile, Wannisa Nukunthonprakit, 40, a Thai national, was fined RM2,700, or four months’ jail, by Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus after pleading guilty to a similar offence at premises in Asia City at 11pm on July 18.
In Rustiani’s case, the court heard from the prosecution that, acting on information under Ops Noda, a police team raided the massage centre and identified themselves to a woman who said she was the caretaker.
The caretaker informed the team that only one room was occupied by a worker and a customer.
A check on the room found Rustiani, a masseuse, and a male customer naked on a massage bed, having sexual intercourse.

Following further investigations, police arrested Rustiani for engaging in prostitution.
In Wannisa’s case, the prosecution informed the court that police raided the premises during Ops Noda and found Wannisa, a therapist, naked with a male customer in one of the rooms.
Investigations found that she had voluntarily offered sexual services to the customer for RM250 to earn extra income.
Wannisa admitted that she acted on her own without the knowledge or instructions of the management.
Counsel Lim Ming Zoong, representing Wannisa, pleaded for leniency, saying she holds a valid passport expiring in February next year and is married with four children.
Wannisa told the court she committed the offence to earn money to support her grandmother and was remorseful.
Both women were charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both, upon conviction.
