Kota Kinabalu: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Women’s wing has established five strategic units to strengthen the coalition’s machinery and grassroots movement ahead of the next general election.
Its Chief Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun said the move was agreed at the GRS Women’s meeting she chaired here on Tuesday.
In a statement Wednesday, she said the units comprise the Policy and Strategy Unit, Economic Unit, Health Unit, Information Unit and Welfare Unit, and are aimed at planning and implementing high-impact programmes while strengthening the party’s engagement with the community through a more structured approach.
“Each unit has a clearly defined role to ensure the party machinery remains proactive and responds swiftly to current issues,” she said.
Azizah will head the Policy and Strategy Unit, while the Economic Unit will be led by Datuk Surinam Sadikun, the Health Unit by Simi Linggom, the Information Unit by Datin Atin Belynda Buntot, and the Welfare Unit by Datin Wong Siow Lee @ Mary Wong.
She also stressed that the GRS Women’s wing could not afford to remain in its comfort zone and must stay prepared at all times, given the constantly evolving political landscape.

“Politics is dynamic. We cannot remain static or stay in our comfort zone. That is why the GRS Women’s wing must continue to meet regularly, coordinate its efforts and be ready to respond to any changes in the political landscape,” she said.
