PENAMPANG: Police are investigating the discovery of a foetus near a house in Kampung Goliga Kolopis here on Tuesday.
Penampang Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said a report was received at about 11.52am before officers were dispatched to the scene.
Initial investigations found the foetus, believed to be premature, near the complainant's house, while forensic personnel and the K-9 Unit assisted at the scene.
The remains were sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem, with the case being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code.
Police urged anyone with information to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Anis Abdullah at 013-6365734 or the nearest police station, and advised the public against spreading unverified information that could affect investigations.
