KENINGAU: A 34-year-old man was found dead on the walkway outside a business premises at LS Supermarket in Sook early Saturday, believed to have been electrocuted while attempting to cut an electrical cable.
District Police Chief Supt Yampil Garai said police received a report on the incident at 5.54am after a security guard discovered the victim lying unconscious in front of the premises.

The victim was identified as Esma Alpfonsus Sapian, from Kampung Sinaron, Keningau.
Yampil said police officers and personnel from the Sook Health Clinic rushed to the scene, where an Assistant Medical Officer confirmed the victim had died.
“Initial investigations found the victim lying face down on the walkway with no signs of a struggle or external injuries on his body.
“A cutter knife was also found on the roof of the premises, while one of the electrical cables had been cut,” he said in a statement.

He said preliminary investigations indicated that the victim had attempted to cut the electrical cable before he was believed to have suffered an electric shock and fallen onto the walkway.
The victim’s body was later sent to the Forensic Unit at Keningau Hospital for a post-mortem examination and further action.
Police have classified the case as a Sudden Death Report (SDR), adding that no criminal elements were detected based on initial investigations.
