TAMBUNAN: The State Government has extended a RM260,000 assistance to Sekolah Agama Negeri (SAN) Pekan Tambunan, which was destroyed by fire on Oct 12.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor personally handed over the contribution during a visit to the school, Tuesday.

The aid includes RM200,000 from the State Government to purchase chairs, desks and other school equipment, RM50,000 from Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah (YKS) and RM10,000 from the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis).

The contribution was received by Headmaster Ustaz Ahmad Subri Janing.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
In addition, YKS also distributed cash and in-kind donations to 20 boarders and 100 pupils affected by the fire.

The Chief Minister said it was time for SAN Pekan Tambunan, established in the 1970s, to have a permanent building.

“At the request of SAN, I propose that it be rebuilt. The present State Government will approve the necessary funding, and I am here today to see where we can help,” he said.

Two buildings — including classrooms and the boarding house — were completely destroyed, while the teachers’ quarters were also affected by the blaze that occurred on the evening of Oct 12.
