Kota Kinabalu: The Kota Kinabalu Widows Welfare Association (KKWA) received RM5,000 in aid from the Inner Wheel Club of Kota Kinabalu (IWCKK) during the club’s 72nd installation night recently.
Newly elected IWCKK President Linda Dunstan said the club would expand its outreach through more programmes focused on women.

She said the donation was made in recognition of KKWA’s role in providing emotional support, educational resources and financial guidance to women facing difficult life challenges.
In her maiden speech, Dunstan also highlighted the needs of children with special needs, particularly those who are often overlooked after reaching adulthood.
She said greater attention should be given to their future, including access to suitable employment opportunities and pathways towards financial independence.
“Women and children are among the most vulnerable when it comes to domestic violence and related issues. During my tenure as president, my board members and I will strengthen our efforts in serving this area,” she said.

Dunstan also highlighted the club’s involvement in “Orange the World”, a global campaign led by UN Women to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls.
The initiative was carried out during the tenure of immediate past President Margaret Michael Awang.
The installation night was officiated by Penampang Municipal Council President Noemi Dyena John Tren, who joined members and guests in celebrating the occasion.
