LAHAD DATU: Police foiled a suspected drug activity involving cannabis with the arrest of a local man and intercepting a courier parcel containing compressed cannabis during an anti-drug operation on Friday.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dzulbaharin Ismail said the 45-years-old suspect was detained during an operation by the Lahad Datu Police and Sabah Narcotic Crime Investigation Department at Fajar Centre.

He said during the operation, the team apprehended the man with a courier parcel.
“The result of inspection found that the parcel containing 87.88 grams of compressed cannabis, estimated worth RM1,000.
“Urine test conducted on the suspect found the suspect positive of the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) drug,” he said.
According to Dzulbaharin, further investigation resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old local woman at Kampung Bakau Baru.

Investigation also found that the parcel was posted from Peninsular Malaysia.
In the meantime, Police also detained a 47-year-old local man at the roadside of Kampung Bangkuruan after finding 0.15 grams of Syabu in his possession.
The suspect was also tested positive for Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.
“Another local man, aged 28, was also detained after his urine tested positive for Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.
“Checks conducted on the suspects found both of them have previous criminal records related to drugs,” he said.
Dzulbaharin said all the suspects were currently remanded for further investigation under Section 12(2), Section 15(1)(a) and Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
He said further investigation is ongoing to identify the wider network and trace the source of the drug supply.
Lahad Datu Police also stressed that they will remains committed to tackling drug-related offences and urged members of the public with relevant information to contact the Lahad Datu district police operations room at 089-881222 or 999, adding that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
