SANDAKAN: Police arrested three local men suspected of involvement in drug trafficking during a series of operations conducted in Bandar Prima and Bandar Indah Jaya, Batu 4, early Thursday morning.
According to District Chief Police, ACP George Abd Rakman, the operations, carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) of the Sandakan District Police Headquarters (IPD), took place between 12.30am and 4.30am on July 16 following intelligence on alleged drug distribution activities in the area.

Police detained two men, aged in their 30s, on suspicion of trafficking dangerous drugs under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952.
During the operation, officers allegedly seized 65.34 grams of ecstasy powder, 9.86 grams of ketamine, and 2.49 grams of ecstasy pills believed to be intended for distribution.
A third suspect was also arrested for allegedly possessing 0.98 grams of ketamine and is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
All three suspects were taken to the BSJND office at IPD Sandakan for further investigation, where preliminary urine screening tests found them positive for ketamine, methamphetamine, and amphetamine (syabu).

They are also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug consumption.
The suspects have been remanded at the Sandakan district police lock-up to assist with ongoing investigations.
George reiterated their commitment to intensifying efforts against drug-related crimes and urged the public to continue providing information to assist enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking activities.
Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 provides for severe penalties upon conviction for drug trafficking, while Sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) relate to drug possession and drug consumption offences, respectively.
