Tuaran: The Festival Mojumbak and Mongigol-Sumayau Dusun Tuaran (Fesmod) 2026 will be held from July 24 to 26 at Dewan Seri Sulaman, here with the theme "Empowering Dusun Traditions and Preserving Cultural Heritage".
Organised by Persatuan Seamex Sabah in collaboration with Kumpulan Kebudayaan Lopuson, and supported by the State Chief Minister’s Department and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac), the festival aims to preserve, document and promote Dusun cultural heritage.
The three-day event will feature competitions in Dusun traditional music (Mojumbak), traditional dance and creative dance, alongside cultural performances, exhibitions, craft demonstrations, traditional food displays and community activities.
Fesmod 2026 is expected to bring together cultural practitioners, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, government agencies, non-governmental organisations and visitors, while continuing efforts to document and pass on Dusun traditions to younger generations.
The opening ceremony will be held on July 25 at 7pm and officiated by Datuk Mohammad Ghazali Hajiji, while the closing ceremony and prize presentation on July 26 at 12.30pm is expected to be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
